Catering for 750 year old VIP!!

Thu, 31 Jul 2008

Recently we were asked to cater for a guest of honour who was at least 750 years old!

Confused?

We were until we found out that the job involved Celebrating the arrival of, to  beautiful Kings Park ,  a magnificent Boab Tree from the very north of Western Australia.

The tree was in the the pathway of a major extension to the Great Northern Highway north of Derby .To remove the tree with the significant root system was a a major challenge but nothing compared to then transporting the tree some 3200 kms to the final resting place in Kings Park Perth.

The journey took over a week involved raising some 64 power lines and had a police and pilot escort all the way. The tree weighed over 37 tonnes was 14 meters in height and, at its widest point over 8 meters.

The replanting ceremony was held on Sunday 20th July attended by a public crowd of some 3000 and 150 special invitees who enjoyed a fantastic afternoon tea with hot and cold finger foods selected from our comprehensive menus.

We wish the Boab tree every health and happiness in its new resting place and hopefully, another 750 years of life in wonderful West Australia  THE best state of Australia!!
